You’ll need a confirmed job offer from a Home Office-licensed sponsor, a Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS), English at B1 level, and a role that is eligible for the Skilled Worker route. From 22 July 2025 most new roles must be at RQF level 6 (graduate level) unless on the Immigration Salary List or Temporary Shortage List.

A valid CoS from a licensed UK sponsor, an eligible occupation code, English language at B1, and salary meeting the current threshold (usually at least £41,700 or the going rate for the code—whichever is higher). You can estimate points and thresholds with our visa points calculator.

Most new Skilled Worker roles must be skilled to RQF level 6 (graduate level) from 22 July 2025, or be listed on the Immigration Salary List/Temporary Shortage List. Each role has a SOC 2020 occupation code and a ‘going rate’ salary you must meet.

Transitional rules may apply if your first CoS was issued before 4 April 2024. Use our calculator to check.

Yes, but you must apply to update your visa before starting the new role if you change employer, move to a different occupation code (unless on a graduate programme), or leave a job on the Immigration Salary List for one that is not.

You can get up to 5 years at a time and extend if you remain eligible. Most Skilled Workers can apply for Indefinite Leave to Remain after 5 continuous years, subject to salary, absence, and other requirements.
